Semen analysis

This remains the most important investigation of the male partner. In 2010 new WHO (World Health Organisation) criteria for semen analysis has been released using lower reference limits [Ref]. While the result of semen analysis proves evidence of concentration, motility and morphology of sperm, it provides no assessment of sperm function [Ref ], which could potentially affect fertility.

Additional tests like anti-sperm antibody, DNA fragmentation have not formed part of routine testing due to lack of evidence.
